The campaign starts now

Following the shock resignation of re-elected incumbent Laura Norris in June 2005, the race is open for the election of the Campaigns and Communications Executive Officer in the Autumn round of KCLSU elections.

The Campaigns and Communications Officer post is only three years old and was filled for two years by Briony Turner prior to Laura's election. Briony, the darling of former KCLSU President David Utting, was widely expected to make a bid for the Presidency in 2004, but decided not to, paving the way for Michael Champion's victory.

The C&C post (also known as CampComm) was an opportunity to get involved at a high level in influencing KCLSU campaigning and communications, especially with Roar. With the development of the KCLSU Communcations Strategy and its Press Office service though, the C&C officer can more define their own role and choose to take a lead on campaigns important to them and the students that elected them.

Already, some KCLSU hacks have come out of the woodwork in expressing an interest. Will it be the mild-mannered KCLSU student staff member, experienced at running in elections (though not winning)? Or the quiet journo-hack that no-one yet suspects. Then again, it could be a man who has self-proclaimed that he will "go down [well] in History [department]", or even a fight between two separate, yet similar, incredibly involved students that both have "fiery" hair styles and would add a lot of colour to the battle - one Strand-based and one Guy's-based...

The KCLSU forum is awash with speculation, though some have suggested a fresh-faced Fresher is likely to steal the show. Past experience doesn't concur that suggestion in the Autumn elections, though the Union is in a period of change and this should not be entirely discounted.

This first, the last and the only

The KCLSU forum was getting pretty overloaded with gossip and is hardly the best place to post it.

So, here we go. If you have gossip, information, or just general banter about the world of King's College London and it's fantastic students' union, post it here.

This site is completely unauthorised and the contents are the responsibility of the posters.
