Lost campuses
Ever wondered what was at Half Moon Lane? Or perhaps Ferndale Road?
Google, as always, assists. Half Moon Lane is now home to the James Black Foundation [1] [2], a small, bio-medical research company limited by guarantee employing 24 scientific staff, whose aim is the discovery of prototype drugs".
Ferndale Road previously housed a hall of residence, with space for up to 24 people. The only information I can find about this though comes from a Google Cache of some accommodation website. Along with Kensington (of which liveried lab coats are highly prized) it was likely sold off and has been made into luxury apartments...
Amusingly, when the College Estates department were asked about this, around 18 months ago, no-one had any idea. Following the redevelopment of the www.kcl.ac.uk website, the links to the old maps have gone, though both Ferndale and Half Moon are now inactive dots on the main campus maps.
