KCLSU in the blogosphere

The much-vaunted Google Blog search and Technorati combined produce some great results for KCLSU.

Try looking through here and then here for a sample. There's even a LiveJournal community.

Of course, one of the best blogs that includes KCLSU can be found here. And of course, this one.

Post juicy tid-bits (with links!) from other blogs in the comments, please!!

KCLSU governance juggernaut rolls on over opposition

Last Tuesday, new sabbaticals, some old hands and staff sat down again to continue fine-tuning the details for the Governance Review project that is continuing at KCLSU. Some tense discussion, but an incredibly intense discussion above all, producing some good results.

Three drafts of the new 'Memorandum and Articles' of the company that KCLSU will become have been produced. Remember, KCLSU is converting to a 'company limited by guarantee' purely to limit liability and this alone is unlikely to affect students.

What will affect students (and I believe positively) will be the changes made to free students from the bureacracy of the current system to enable them to achieve positive outcomes for themselves and not have to engage in the 'old-style' of debate and student politics that has persisted for around 80 years and is just not relevent anymore in the 21st century.

The KCLSU wikipedia article has more detail on the changes, though no specifics.

NUS (hearts) KCLSU

Even after the disaster of Michael Champion's failed bid for NUS leadership last year, the NUS have agreed to host the next London Regional Conference on 31 October 2005 at King's. This will definitely link in with the aim of KCLSU to 'rebuild the London base' in terms of lobbying and campaigning.

And it can be announced that KCLSU have been in contact with NUS to discuss hosting the NUS London Regional Office within a KCLSU facility, likely to be at the Guy's campus. This will essentially be a small (tiny, in fact) office for the two London-specific support staff and will take then out of the new NUS HQ in Camden. The aim is to hopefully enable them to operate more London-wide as opposed to simply an adjunct to NUS staff at HQ.
